About Our Practice
The idea started in 2019 when two former Citizens Advice volunteers noticed the same pattern repeating. Capable, organized people were struggling not because they lacked entitlement, but because the application process itself had become an obstacle.
Forms rejected for missing evidence that wasn't clearly requested. Statements written in plain language when assessors expected specific terminology. Deadlines missed because people didn't know where to find the documents they needed.
So we built something focused: a consultancy that helps people navigate benefits applications without the confusion. No legal jargon for its own sake. No complicated intake processes. Just practical guidance based on what actually works.
How We Work
Every case starts with a consultation where we assess your situation and explain which benefits you're likely eligible for. From there, we build a plan.
Evidence Review
We check what you already have and identify what's missing. Medical records, financial statements, rental agreements. Each benefit has specific requirements, and we make sure nothing gets overlooked.
Application Preparation
We draft your forms and supporting statements in a way that clearly communicates your circumstances while addressing the assessment criteria. Accuracy matters more than volume.
Submission Support
Before anything gets sent, we verify it against current DWP requirements. Once submitted, we track progress and handle any follow-up queries that arise.
Post-Decision Assistance
If your application is approved, we explain the award and any ongoing obligations. If it's rejected, we review the decision and advise on whether mandatory reconsideration or appeal makes sense.
The Team
Our consultants have backgrounds in welfare rights, social policy, and administrative law. Most have worked in advice services or local authority benefits departments before joining us. That experience means we understand both the technical requirements and the human side of these applications.
We're not solicitors, and we don't represent clients in tribunal hearings. What we do is prepare the strongest possible application so that tribunal representation becomes unnecessary. When legal representation is needed, we work alongside solicitors who specialize in benefits law.
Our Principles
Transparent Pricing
You know what you're paying before we start work. No surprises, no percentage-based fees on awards.
Realistic Expectations
We assess eligibility honestly. If your circumstances don't meet the criteria for a particular benefit, we tell you rather than taking your money.
Clear Communication
Benefits regulations are complex enough without adding unnecessary complexity. We explain things in plain English.
Thorough Documentation
Every application we submit is checked against current requirements. We don't guess and hope for the best.
Location & Accessibility
Our office is in central Leeds, near the train station. We offer in-person consultations for those who prefer face-to-face meetings, and remote support via phone or video call for clients who find travel difficult.
Most of our work is document-based, which means geography rarely limits what we can do. We've helped clients across West Yorkshire and beyond.
